Our Story
A craftsman-led design-build studio in Austin
Spice Design Studio was founded on a belief that homes deserve the same patience and attention as the people who live in them. We're a small Austin-based team that designs and builds custom carpentry — from one-of-a-kind furniture pieces and built-ins to complete kitchen and bathroom remodels.
What we don't do is rush. Every project starts with a real conversation, moves through careful design, and ends with work we'd be proud to put our own name on — because we do.
What we believe
Craft over speed. A finish that looks good for a year is a different thing from a finish that looks good for a generation. We work to the latter standard.
Partnership over transactions. Our best projects are the ones where the client feels like a collaborator, not a customer. We keep you in the loop — through sketches, through selections, through dust.
Honesty in scope and budget. We don't believe in surprise change orders or vague estimates. We tell you what we know, when we know it.
Who we work with
Most of our clients are Austin-area homeowners — families investing in the place they actually live. Some are first-time renovators. Some have done it ten times. Either way, we calibrate the process to where you're starting from.
The work we take on ranges from a one-of-a-kind dining table to a full kitchen remodel. If you're not sure whether your idea fits, the answer is almost always: it does. Reach out and let's talk it through.
How We Work
A simple, honest process
Discover
A conversation, a walk-through of your space, and a clear-eyed assessment of what you actually need versus what you've been told you need.
Design
Sketches, material selections, and a fixed scope of work with a transparent estimate. Nothing moves to build until you've signed off.
Build
One trusted team on site, weekly check-ins, and clean handoffs between phases. No mystery sub-contractors, no vanishing acts.
Reveal
A walk-through together, a punch list closed in days not months, and a finished space we both want photographed.
